The philosophy of Yellow Dog Pilates is to deliver rigorous, dynamic and personalized workouts that adhere to the unique and powerful teachings of Joseph and Clara Pilates, while complementing their method with modern-day scientific knowledge about health and body mechanics. Jen Kaplan, owner of Yellow Dog Pilates, takes pride in delivering dynamic and individualized workouts to prevent muscle memory and boredom, while still adhering to the integrity of the Pilates principles and repertoire. Jen believes that Pilates is simply the best pathway to anyone who wants to look and feel better.
Jen completed her comprehensive teacher training through internationally reknown Body Arts and Sciences International (BASI). Jen also holds an advanced certification in Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies, through BASI, and has completed Tracey Mallet's Booty Barre comprehensive instructor training course.
Jen has decades of movement experience, ranging from golf to triathlon, and has also spent years working as an office dweller. Jen's movement (and lack of movement) experience has enabled her to provide effective workouts to a diverse range of people. Jen has experience teaching a wide range of clientele including endurance athletes seeking to build strength and flexibility, office workers seeking to tone up and de-stress, and seniors coping with injuries.
Jen offers in-home training in the Vail area and a flexible, appointment-based schedule.
The inspiration behind the studio name "Yellow Dog Pilates" is Miller, Jen's beloved Golden Retriever. Miller can often be found lounging by the creek outside of the studio.
